No. 9 in our hopefully 30 day series of blogging tips: Top 9 reasons why YOU should attend Barcamp Galway on Saturday 22nd September 2007!

9. You will learn new things about blogging, technology, starting a business
8. You’ll meet lots of friendly, interesting people
7. Barcamp wants you to come - and bring a friend!
6. Galway is one of the best places in Ireland to spend an evening out
5. I’ll be speaking at the event
4. You can speak too, if you want to!
3. You get a free t-shirt, lunch and all the coffee you can drink!
2. It’s easy to sign up – just email barcampgalway@gmail.com and tell ‘em you’re coming
1. It’s absolutely 100% FREE

For readers outside of Ireland, please note that all of these reasons except No. 6  also apply to your local Barcamp!

At BarCamp, anyone can present. In fact, if this is your first time at BarCamp, presenting is actively encouraged. Talks will typically be 15-20 minutes followed by 15 minutes Q&A / discussion but talks can be as short or as long as you like. You can use PowerPoint slides, or forego slides altogether. Talks can be technical or non-technical.

I’ve never been to a Barcamp but I keep reading about them and thinking I should start.

How many people typically attend most Barcamps?

Thanks John :)

Paul, it’s different depending on where it’s held, but you’re talking 25-100 people. Which can be really good for incoming links if you can get them all to give you DoFollow links, eh? ;)
