well my question really does not have anything to do with blogging but about folders or subdomain
is there a difference between them for seo

Hmm, my bad, noticed I never answered this here (I answered by email).

So my thinking on using subdomains (blog.xyz.com) instead of subdirs (www.xyz.com/blog) is that subdomains work great on bigger sites - particularly those where you have a lot of content on the non-blog part of the site - it stands alone without the blog.

On the other hand, I think subdirectories are better for sites with less content on the main site, where the blog will be a major percentage of the site content as a whole.

More on this topic in future posts. Feel free to email me if you'd like me to talk more about this topic.

Hi Allistar,

Is there any chance you could give a sneak preview as to why you would use blog.domain over domain.com/blog?

I have a not-yet-live blog and I have it on a subdomain. I haven't really thought too hard as to why I placed it on the sub but I'm 99% certain it's the correct choice.
