These notes are from a talk I gave for the Irish Internet Association . It’s called “Planning a web project”, and it was part of Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown Enterprise Week 2009.

- At minimum your website should have:
- A professional appearance
- What you do (Products/Services)
- Contact information (minimum: phone number, email address and address)
- Appear near or at the top in Google for your business name
- Identify your needs – why do you need a website?
- “Because everyone else has one” is not a good enough answer!
- What is the purpose of your website?
- What are your website’s Goals?
- What are your website’s goals?
- When someone arrives at your website, you generally want them to take one or more of the following actions:
- Buy something on the site (direct sales)
- Contact you (lead generation)
- Find information
- Evaluate Options
- Many options available – appear similar but are actually very different
- Learning/education, and finding trusted advisors are the key

- Pick the right supplier
- The hard part. Different for everyone.
- Small vs Bigger suppliers.
- Ask your friends/peers/advisors for recommendations
- Ask suppliers to talk to previous customer/view testimonials

It sounds really interesting. In germany we have not such much workshops about internet and affiliates, so i´m thinking about to go to america to hear some workshops. Maybe you can help me to find some interesting workshops for affiliates.
