by Alastair McDermott · 16 comments

Forget about building communities and branding identity and all that for a moment.

What about cash?

Imagine getting cheques in the post, and electronic transfers into your account. In the world we live in today YOU can really do it with your blog.

Here’s 12 different places you can make money online. I’ve earned cash from 5 of these companies myself.

Put ads alongside your blog content

  • Google AdSense
  • Azoogle
  • Chitika.com

Write a review or post about somebody’s product

  • PayPerPost.com
  • SponsoredReviews.com
  • ReviewMe.com

Sell a link on your blog

  • TextLinkAds.com
  • TextLinkBrokers.com
  • V7n contextual links

Earn commission on affiliate links

  • Amazon
  • LinkShare
  • Commission Junction

These are all great ways to earn money just by writing blog posts! But I’ve left out the absolute No. 1 way to make money directly from blogging, because it deserves a post all of its own. Do you know what it is? Post a comment with your answer!

My guess is to sell a proprietary product of some kind? I’ve seen a lot of sites that sell an e-book or some other product and then just blog about their industry (such as Aaron Wall’s http://www.seobook.com). That guy apparently earns upwards of 10k a day from his book.

I’m currently only using Chitika on my blog, and its paying well. What kind of Ads do Azoogle have ?

Alastair McDermott September 14, 2007 at 9:44 am

Billy, Tech Duke, thanks for the comments.

Billy, I’ll delay on answering that one until later today :)

Tech Duke: Azoogle ads are pretty much across the spectrum. You can run CPA, CPC and CPM ads and they have thousands of advertisers. I’d highly recommend experimenting with them.

btw nice clean design on your site. I’m about to upgrade from Vista to XP so maybe there’ll be some tips for me in there :D

Yes, I know what I said ;)

Tech Duke September 14, 2007 at 10:48 am

Thanks, I will try them out.

btw, Alastair, What made you downgrade from Vista to XP ?

Alastair McDermott September 14, 2007 at 10:59 am

Who said anything about downgrading? I am upgrading from Vista to XP!

Mainly because it’s more stable, and better performing. I really like that it doesn’t hard drive access for 20 minutes every time I Alt-Tab :)

I’m gonna take a guess here . . . how about asking for donations?

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have only Amazon and Google Adsense, I’ll have to check the rest out. Thanks again!

For those that participate in these types of activities, what would a good return be on a monthly basis? Are we talking $200.00 , $2,000.00 or $20,000 if done correctly?

Subconscious Mind September 25, 2007 at 2:46 am

have monitized my site yet but was thinking about google ads, but i have heard azoogle is better, is this true?

Mike C October 14, 2007 at 1:34 am

I use several of these myself for monetization. There are some of these I have never heard of I will be checking those out.

Thanks,

A lot of people have success with direct ad sales, since you don’t have to share the revenue with somebody like Google. Is that it?

You can also review software applications and become an affiliate for the programs that you like and endorse.
